  • A paragraph about copyright and fair use. How would you deal with these concepts as a teacher, developing your own instructional materials, and having students create their own works? Have you learned anything new about it? Are there any lingering questions, concerns, or ideas? Feel free to share your reflection.

Unfortunately, as students grow and expand on their writing, copyright and fair use is likely an obstacle they will have to learn to overcome. From personal experience as a student, I remember moments where would take text and quotes from different sources and use them without realizing they were not under fair use guidelines . In the same way, I expect most students, if they are learning how to right research papers and implementing resources into their work, to stray away from the guidelines. I believe the best way to minimize this would be by building a strong foundation when it comes to how to properly cite work. One new thing I learned about copywriting is that it is much easier to claim fair use on work that based on non-fiction and facts, which to me, makes complete sense.

  • A paragraph about technology implementation issues. Select one of the technology implementation issues listed below. Propose a solution to the selected issue that you could implement in your future classroom. Be specific.
    • Academic dishonesty
    • Cyberbullying
    • Decreased productivity
    • Lack of funding
    • Student privacy

A growing concern for technology implementation would be academic dishonesty. This concern becomes more apparent when looking at the demand for remote classes and in rise of new technology such as ChatGPT. One solution to this issue is having professors being required to make up new exam questions on every test while simultaneously using lockdown browsers such as Honorlock, or even replacing traditional exams with oral assessments, where the examiner can see the student.

  • A paragraph about implementing generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) in classrooms. Do you think the generative AI is helping or hurting student learning, or maybe a bit of both? Are there any lingering questions, concerns, or ideas?

Implementing generative AI is a wise choice for educators. This is because softwares such ChatGPT are only become more prominent and readily available as time passes. Rather then ignoring it, educators should learn to work around it and implementing it in students learning. Generative AI could even help educators when coming up with ideas on how to teach a certain subject or in connecting concepts from different topics.
