- A paragraph about Florida Computer Science Standards. Select a grade level. Choose one of the standards listed and describe it in your own words. Do you feel prepared to implement this standard based on your current skill set? Why or why not?
The grade level I chose to review is the grade 3-5, and the standard is The impact of computing resources on local and global society. This standard focuses on teaching online ethics to students to combat cyberbullying, and how to use the technology as means of unifying people of different cultures and backgrounds, instead of creating division. I do believe I can implement this standard because I believe the ethics behind the standard come natural to most human beings meaning it would not only be easier to teach, but also easier for anyone to grasp.
- A paragraph about the CPALMS Educator Toolkit. To access the Educator Toolkit, select "I am a Florida Teacher" on the CPALMS home page. Scroll down to the "Grade Level Toolkits" section and select a grade-level. Then, select a subject area. Select one of the standards and see the related resources (e.g., Lesson Plans, Text Resources, Original Student Tutorial). How do you think the resources can be used in your teaching? Note: Some items require a log-in to view the entire tool/resource. If you come across one of these items, you can find the information you need from the "Resource Information" page. You do not need to create an account.
The CPALMS Educator toolkit is an efficient and practical resource for educators. I believe that it can serve as a personal checklist for instructing children. By reviewing the material you plan on presenting in your class with the standards, you can ensure that your students are learning efficiently. It also gives you resources and assignment that you can implement in the classrooms that further the understanding of the topic. The Educator toolkit is ultimately an awesome tool for all educators.
- A paragraph about Internet searching. Why is it important to be a proficient Internet searcher as a teacher? Of the Internet searching skills that were introduced this week, which skill or skills do you think you will use most moving forward? Is there an Internet searching skill you use that was not introduced in the course material this week? If so, please tell us about it!
Being a proficient Internet searching is an important skill for educators because it allows them to gather information for courses both effectively and efficiently. Not only are educators less likely to waste time searching through content that is not useful, but they are also going to be able to find the information they need to enhance their teaching. The most useful skill I learned is via Google Advanced search. This adds as an additional filter, to ensure I find exactly what I am looking for to prepare a lesson. Google advanced is also a practical tool that I can use when I am browsing on my own time, and looking for something in specific like a source in a research paper.
I love that in your paragraph about internet searching you mentioned googles advanced search. I had no idea there was much a thing until reading my blog. It reminds me of FSU’s library advanced search. This is going to very useful to finding exactly what i need for teaching.
